All About Microbial Ecology.
When you visit a state park you may meet and mingle with an ecology volunteer. If you were to become a volunteer at a park such as Yellowstone National Park, you would have an opportunity to share your passion for nature with the people you meet. If you live near a state or national park, you can go online and apply for a position as a volunteer. You just click on “support your park” and look for the volunteer section. There is a link to click on to get information on how to become a volunteer.

The North American prairie ecosystem is diverse and complex. It used to be much bigger than it is now extending from the Rocky Mountains to the Mississippi River and from Mexico to Canada. The prairie ecosystem has been damaged and reduced in the last one hundred and fifty years so that now it is only a fraction of the size it used to be. Studying and learning about the ecosystem can be a vast and confusing topic for kids. Ecosystem is a big word that can be intimidating for children. Ecosystem is short for ecological systems. Simply put and ecosystem is all the animals and other living things in a specific area. This can include plants, micro organism, large and small animals and birds among other things. All of the living things interact with each other and with their non-living environment in an ecosystem. For kids it may be hard to understand the basic concept of how ecosystems work. It is a good idea to help children get a better understanding of ecosystems by playing games and doing crafts and models to illustrate the concept.

Bird ecology conservation is the study of threatened birds in relation to their environment. Human beings have been responsible for many bird populations being on the endangered list. Bird ecology conservation workers are recording the significance of over-hunting and other causes of avian mortality. Since historical times when human beings started colonizing the earth more than 1800 species of birds have become extinct, and many more avian populations are declining.

The earth is visibly going through climate changes. Scientists have seen how the earth has warmed up by at least 1 degree Fahrenheit in the last one hundred years. Documented recorded temperatures from the 1880’s onward provide some of these global warming facts. The United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change states that temperatures have been hotter these past eleven years with 2005 being the hottest year on record. Actually, these last twenty years has been the hottest known years in the last 400 years of the earth’s climate history.

Man and environment have been working against each other for years. Since the beginning of humanity, man stepped out into the world and changed it. Every time a tree branch is broken or an animal is killed, there is a lasting effect on the world. While in moderation there is no reason for alarm, in fact, these can be beneficial, on a large scale, there is devastation to worry about. Finding the balance between man and environment is difficult. Man is continuously looking for ways to improve its lifestyle while the environment struggles to keep up. Is there some way to find an equal balance?

Locally, people can do significant things to save the environment. What is your environment like now compared to what it was like ten, twenty or more years ago? In most American cities, the difference will be significant. Cities have grown with more people, which mean more natural habitats for animals will be taken over by streets. More factories may have come in, taking over the abundance of space with pollution causing machines. There are more cars on the streets and more litter as well. Therefore, as you can see, there are likely many things that can be done on a local level to save environment problems from overtaking the communities you know and love.

What legacy are we leaving for our children? What kind of wildlife will they know in their lifetime? What is happening with Polar Bears and global warming is not just shame but is a tragedy. One day the only legacy we will have for future generations of children is show them books and say, remember the polar bears?”

Discussions about the climate crisis most often focus on greenhouse gas emissions, polar ice caps melting, temperature changes, sea levels rising, famines and droughts. We must not neglect to look at humans that will be affected by global warming in terms of the virus explosion it will perpetuate. Yes, we will not only be affected by the environment we live in but our own bodies, will be affected by global warming as well. Our health and physical existence will be at risk.

What is the study of ecology and why is it so important? The study of ecology is basically studies that are being done on the earth’s environmental systems. It is the study of the natural order of things and how natural events affect society. It is also the study of how man-made products affect the world and the environmental system. These studies show how society has began to use up and tear down the natural resources found in the world. They show how something as simple as an aerosol can of deodorant or hair spray can affect the air we breathe.
